Decline to Fall

I am sure club members agree that one of our strengths as a club is our lack of affiliations, which naturally means most anything goes of an evening. Last night was no exception as a plethora of misdemeanours were executed with fervent impropriety, not least in the burning of a certain magazine which was put up in flames for unrepeatable reasons.

This should not be taken for granted. As the club’s favourite satirist describes of his own invention, the Bollinger club: ‘quite often the Club is suspended for some years after each meeting. There is a tradition behind the Bollinger; it numbers reigning kings among its past members. At the last dinner, three years ago, a fox had been brought in in a cage and stoned to death with champagne bottles.  What an evening that had been!’

Whilst club members will recognise the similarities between Waugh’s Bollinger club and the CCC, where we diverge is on the principle of suspension and so it will be a great privilege to invite you all to another tasting in the early summer. Details to follow.

Thank you all for making the evening so special.

Yours as ever,

Club Captain Frazer

Aka Sir Alastair Digby-Vane-Trumpington
